Joe tells us “I don’t want to write songs which are not reflective of someone my age. Being a teenager is great fun but it also comes with lots of stresses and struggles of its own. I use humour a lot in my music because life through my eyes is pretty funny and sometimes really incredibly peculiar! My music reflects that, but I also want to communicate that even though we are young, we sometimes show more maturity and depth than we are given credit for”.

The early days..
Joe is no stranger to the recording studio . “My parents house revolved around music. We had a Pro studio there,” he says, “instruments and artists in and out all the time, many chart stars, part of my life from year dot,” Joe recalls. “It was really only a matter of time for me to make the decision that music would be fundamental to my life and my career.”

“My upbringing and the chances I had to perform showed me what was possible in this business,” he says, “it taught me that success doesn’t just happen, you have to go out and earn it.” So, back in 2004, Joe put ambition into action and started writing material for his debut album. Several years, gazillions of torn up pieces of paper and rejected songs later, Joe has finally honed his writing skills enough to have been noticed by and signed to The Junk Label.

Did you see it (Arsene Wenger)
Joe’s debut single Did you see it (Arsene Wenger) was released on The Junk Label late in 2009. Due to the lyrical connection with a certain famous football manager, the track received airplay in many football stadiums around the UK, and at some clubs it is played religously before every home game! The track has also been used by ESPN Sports Sky TV channel as backing music.

And now..
2010 sees Joe touring in Cyprus for the summer season, singing and playing guitar with up and coming Cypriot band Grounded. He is also DJ’ ing most nights to earn a crust and any spare time is spent on recording tracks for his debut album.

The band was formed in late 2007 by brothers Crash & Ricky Summers. During their college years, guitarist Jason Sepala & lead vocalist Crash became friends, unaware of each other’s love for rock music. It wasn’t until years later whilst trying to form the band that Jase’s guitar playing talent became apparent.

Whilst gigging, the trio were approached by producer Clyde Ward. Clyde had previously worked with artists such as Eric Clapton, Lenny Kravitz, Right Said Fred, George Michael and Sting.

In early 2008, a friend of Clyde’s had just returned from playing drums in Sweden with the Cockney Rejects and overheard a SUMMERS demo whilst in the studio. Instantly impressed by the style of music, drummer Andy Pope met with the boys during a recording session resulting in the band scoring a very experienced drummer! In his spare time, bassist Ricky produced for local musicians and among these was a very promising young guitarist Sam Hickling. Impressed by the musicianship that Sam displayed, Ricky approached and drafted Sam into SUMMERS, thus completing the line-up.

Clyde’s experience brought a new dynamic to the table with song-writing collaborations on strong anthemic songs, direction, input on the stage show, lighting and visual effects. He combined everything into a harder hitting production and sound which has catapulted the band into another league.

It didn’t take long for word to spread in the UK about SUMMERS melodic songs and rich vocal harmonies. Suddenly the band were playing to full venues all along the South Coast. With the demand as such, the band began recording their debut album in Cyprus which is due for completion in March 2010.

SUMMERS are at their best when they’re on the move and that’s truer now than ever before. The pending debut album shows their commitment to hard-hitting rock & roll without compromise whilst retaining their indelible signature sound. The boys are poised ready for some serious gigging and are about to unleash a series of tour dates.

Jason, British born of Indian parents, got his first acoustic guitar at the age of 8, joined his first band at 11 as an already proficient singer guitarist, grew up listening to classic rock bands, artists such as Thin Lizzy, Van-Halen, Joe Satriani, Boyz II Men and Usher. Jase is nuts about hair and pizza!
Alex, Greek-Cypriot, entranced by rap music since he was 12, fascinated by the flow and the way it was put together, yet with broad tastes for many music forms, including garage, reggae, soul, basement, r&b, house and yes, rock.
In the late 90s, he was a member of the notorious ‘So Solid Crew,’ but these days, he’s a well established Rap star in Cyprus and Greece.
